Mom, daughter charged in shoplifting
NorthCoastNOW
ELYRIA — There’s a right way to do holiday shopping but taking your teenager on a mother-daughter shoplifting trip is not it.
That’s what police say happened about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at JCPenney at Midway Mall.
Amanda Arocho, 33, of Lorain, was charged with theft and contributing to the delinquency of a child after she and her 14-year-old daughter were stopped by a security guard, according to an Elyria police report.
They were allegedly found trying to sneak several T-shirts worth a total of $86 out of the store, the report said.
The teen also was cited for juvenile theft and released to the custody of her stepfather.
