CHP to open new clinic

NorthCoastNOW

ELYRIA — Community Health Partners Great Lakes Rehabilitation opened up an outpatient clinic Tuesday on East River Street.

The clinic — part of Community Health Partners — will focus on orthopedic, pediatric and neurological rehabilitation, according to Deanna Schreiber, manager of physical therapy.

Where other facilities operated by CHP focus on inpatient rehabilitation — therapy provided within the setting of a hospital — the Community Great Lakes Rehabilitation Center will focus on providing rehabilitation to people as part of their daily life.

Elyria is an underserved market in terms of outpatient rehabilitation,” Schreiber said.

CHP spokeswoman Jennifer Kennedy agreed, saying that the clinic will allow CHP to “better serve the patients in the area.”

Patients in Elyria and North Ridgeville recovering from injuries or balance and speech disorders can now receive treatment in “their own backyard,” she said.

The clinic features two individualized treatment rooms, one private speech therapy room and one private pediatric treatment room. Pediatric services, Schreiber said, are a big part of what the clinic aims to offer.

For the moment, the clinic is not permanently staffed, Schreiber said.
