LORAIN — The three pit bulls picked up following an attempted attack on a mailman Monday have been released to their owner.
The county pound confirmed that the owner picked up the dogs after a Lorain police officer shot two of the pit bulls — injuring one and killing the other — when the dogs allegedly turned on him after attempting to attack the mailman.
Police later located an additional pit bull and a puppy that were tied to an upstairs bedroom in a nearby home and transported all four dogs to the county pound.
Mike Mattei, animal control officer for Lorain, said charges could still be brought against the dogs’ owner.
