Mother: Teenage son threatened her

SHEFFIELD TWP. — A teen is in the county detention home after an incident Thursday in which he lunged at his mother with his fists, then grabbed a knife and told her to kill him, according to a sheriff’s report.

The woman told deputies that her son’s fit suddenly started about 3:30 p.m. at her Toledo Avenue home when she asked the 14-year-old about a broken cassette she found in the driveway. She said that on the tape, the boy had called teachers vulgar names, and she had planned to show it to a doctor, the report said.

The woman told investigators her son “just went crazy,” said he was going to hurt her, jumped at her and then went for the knife.

Later, the boy said he was tired of his mother hitting him, and he is sick of getting blamed for everything, the report said.

He was cited with domestic violence and was taken to the detention home.

Man gets bitten on ear during fight

SHEFFIELD TWP. — A 26-year-old man needed emergency care Thursday after an assailant bit his ear, county sheriff’s deputies said.

Peter Dagnese of Lorain called for help about 10:45 a.m. after a drinking buddy assaulted him, according to a report.

Deputies said that when they arrived at the house, Dagnese was covered in blood. He said Thomas Trent Jr., 34, of Sheffield, punched him in the face four times and chomped down on his ear but couldn’t say why, the report stated.

Trent was found hiding a few doors down and admitted to the assault, deputies said.

Sheffield Township firefighters were called because deputies followed a hissing sound to the rear of the house where the attack happened and found a broken gas line where a vehicle had apparently slammed into a wall, the report said.

Mom says man has taken her daughter

LORAIN — A Lorain woman said her 20-year-old daughter, who suffers from cerebral palsy and mental retardation, was taken from her home last Sunday and has been missing ever since, according to police.

The mother told police an Indiana man known to her family visited Lorain and stayed with her son. When her son went out for milk Sunday morning, the visitor took her daughter and drove to North Vernon, Ind., according to the report.

The 20-year-old’s condition causes her to have the mental faculties of a 7-year-old, and she experiences memory loss and believes anything anyone tells her, the mother said.

Since her daughter’s disappearance, the mother has received four text messages from the man who took her, she told police. One asked, “Are you afraid I am going to do to you what I did to (her father)?”

The message refers to an incident last year when her daughter was taken while visiting her father in Indiana, she told police. At that time, the same man took the daughter but eventually agreed to return her to her family at the Indiana/Ohio border, the report said.

The man had also called police earlier in the day and tried to have the mother arrested for kidnapping and unlawful restraint, the report said.

Police said they saw through his ruse immediately, because it was obvious the mother was the primary caretaker and the girl’s name was on the home lease.
