LORAIN — A 28-year-old man was caught red-handed after his brother returned a test-driven car to a Lorain dealership with a set of old tires, police said.

Clifford Henline, of Lorain, was charged Sunday with theft, theft of motor vehicle parts and receiving stolen property when a Joyce Buick sales employee noticed that four Michelin 17-inch tires that had been on a 2005 GMC Envoy had been replaced with four heavily used tires following a test drive by Henline’s brother, 27-year-old Billy Henline.

The employee told police he immediately noticed that the tires had been replaced by two separate, older brands, and thought that Billy Henline had given the new tires to his brother, who had purchased a GMC Envoy from the dealership last year.

Police went to Clifford Henline’s address where they saw the same type of tires reported stolen from Joyce Buick on his car. Clifford Henline told police that he had swapped the tires because he couldn’t afford new ones.

Wow… wonder if they know they can save up for new tires, instead of STEALING them…. Did they think the Car Dealership wouldn’t notice the old tires?

Got to give them credit for originality. As these guys probably can tell by now, originality doesn’t always turn out like you thought it would.
