WELLINGTON TWP. — A 26-year-old Elyria woman was assaulted with an ax late Friday at a Jones Road home, county sheriff’s Capt. Richard Resendez said.
Michael Conley, 56, of Wellington Township, was charged with felonious assault and two counts of domestic violence.

His son, David Conley Sr., 25, who lives with his father, was charged with resisting arrest and obstructing official business.
Resendez said Michael Conley allegedly hit the woman, who lives in Elyria, with an ax about 11:44 p.m. The attack happened on the 48000 block of Jones Road, he said.
She was taken to Allen Community Hospital in Oberlin, and a nursing supervisor there said she had been released.
David Conley also was hurt, but Resendez had no details Saturday night on the nature or extent of the injury.
Resendez couldn’t say exactly what happened — more information will be available Monday, he said — but an ax, a wooden club and a hammer all were confiscated from the home.
A Wellington police dispatcher said her department received a report that a woman at that address had been hit in the neck with an axe.
A woman who witnessed the attack refused to tell The Chronicle what happened, but said the victim and David Conley were going to be OK.
Michael Conley was being held at the county jail without bond. His son was released early Saturday on $1,500 bond.
David Conley also is currently facing charges of assault, resisting arrest and obstructing justice stemming from an April 20 fight outside a Wellington tavern.
Wellington police said they used pepper spray on him during that arrest.

HAXOR - I wouldn’t be surprised. England has actually done something similar. They called it a knife amnesty. Honest citizens (the gullible) turned in knives and are now being stabbed by the criminals. Sometimes I think we are suicidally stupid.
