WEOL changes lineup
There’ll be some changes in its schedule, but WEOL-AM 930 still looks to score runs with listeners.
Beginning June 2, some of the station’s signature programs, including “Paul Harvey News and Comment” and “The Clark Howard Show,” will be heard in new time slots.
Howard, a nationally syndicated consumer specialist, will have his show expanded by an hour. Currently in the 1 to 3 p.m. slot, the show will be noon to 3 p.m. weekdays.
“
The station’s noon hour of news, sports and information will still feature those elements in revised form, according to Van Dyke. Local news will lead off the hour, followed by national news from ABC News Radio. Jim Allen’s award-winning sports report will move from 12:10 to 12:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, while weekday interviews of newsmakers and others by WEOL newsman Larry Wright will move from its 12:45 p.m. time period.
“We’ll be focusing on booking many of the features done by Larry into the morning show,” said Van Dyke, referring to the “Les in the Morning” show hosted by Les Sekely.
The shift of Paul Harvey to 11:45 a.m. will reduce Glen Beck’s show by 15 minutes.
“From a technical standpoint, Beck’s show has a natural break at that time,” said Van Dyke. “It’s put in by the network for stations that have other programming like Rush Limbaugh that starts at noon.”
The changes in programming will not affect personnel, according to Van Dyke.
