Joseph S. Yakunovich Sr., 79, of Kipton, died Friday, May 30, 2008, at
He was a police officer for 13 years before owning the Village Tavern in Kipton for 30 years. He was on the Kipton village council for many years and also the mayor of Kipton for four years.
Mr. Yakunovich is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy (Osmer); daughter, Kathie of Oberlin; sons, David and Steven of Kipton; grandchildren, Sharon, Joseph and Ivan of Fernandino Beach, Fla., Samantha, Angie and Ashley of Amherst; three great-grandchildren in Florida; brothers, Steve of Elyria, George of Oberlin, Peter (Bill), and John of Kipton; sister, Irene Tokas of Amherst; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sons, Joseph (Bo), Mark and Paulie; sister, Helen Harr of Kipton.
Arrangements were handled by Malloy Memorial and Crematory,

Judy, Kathy, David and Steven…
Our prayers and condolances are with you. I am honored to have known Joe, and call him my good freind. While we have not gotten together as much as I would have liked these past few years, he has been in my thoughts daily.
