Belden Old Fashion Days
It’s time to step back to a different era for Belden’s Old Fashion Days. The annual event will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Grafton Township Fire Hall.
The event will feature a craft show and flea market, as well as refreshments, demonstrations, engines and a tour of the one-room museum and Veteran’s Memorial Park.
At 1 p.m. Sunday, visitors are encouraged to bring old/antique items to the hall, where Joan Unger of the Cat’s Meow antique store in North Ridgeville will offer opinions about the history and value of the items.
The event is the main fundraiser for the Belden Historical Society, and proceeds are used for maintaining historic buildings and preserving local history.
Auxiliary troop donation drive
Many people send items to U.S. servicemen and women at Christmas, but forget about the rest of the year.
The Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Forgeign Wars Post 9340 will be collecting items for the troops between now and through the Fourth of July holiday.
The following are items needed: disposable cameras, word puzzle books, travel-size games, calendars, books, pictures, stationery/pens/envelopes (no stamps), powder drink mix (hot or cold), tea bags/coffee packets, cup of soup/ramen noodles, granola bars/energy bars, trail mix/raisins, nuts, candy/gum (wrapped), dry cereal (individual servings), fruit cups/applesauce cups, Fruit Roll-ups/fruit snacks, peanut butter and jelly, beef jerky, seasonings/condiments, cookies, Cracker Jacks, popcorn, baby wipes (50 count), Kleenex (pocket size), eye drops (0.05 ounce), hand lotion (travel size), Chapstick/sunblock, cough drops, soap (hotel size), toilet paper, deodorant (1.7 ounce), toothpaste (travel size), toothbrushes, dental floss, combs/brushes (travel size), shaving cream (travel size), feminine products (individually wrapped), disposable razors, powder, Noxzema, petroleum jelly, bug lotion, sunglasses, Ziploc bags, fly strips/swatters, dryer sheets, air fresheners and Laundromat size laundry soap.
Cash donations will also be accepted make all checks payable to VFW Post 9340 and mail to: VFW Post 9340, 25742 state Route 82, Columbia Station, OH 44028.
There will be a collection box at the VFW booth at the Columbia Homecoming Festival June 26 to 29. Items may also be dropped off at the VFW Post any day after 1 p.m.

Black River Safety Town
Black River Safety Town will be July 14 to 18 at Black River Education Center.
Registration is $20. This is for Black River students entering kindergarten this fall. Call (419) 929-0325.
LaGrange village garage sale
Consider being part of the LaGrange community garage sale days July 17 to 19.
All garage sale permits for the village and township will be waived for these three days.
LaGrange soccer registration
LaGrange Youth Soccer registration for the fall season is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and June 28 at the LaGrange Municipal Building.
All players must bring a copy of their state certified birth certificate. Hospital certificates are not acceptable.
All players born before July 31, 1999, must bring a photo.
Age groups and fees:
Pee Wee Players (Aug 1, 2002 -July 31, 2005) $40. Uniform jerseys are provided.
Players U-7 and up (born before July 31, 2002) $50. New U-7 and up players will need to purchase a jersey for $25. Please include jersey size (youth medium through adult large) and three number options for the back of the jersey.
