WESTLAKE — The city prosecutor will decide whether charges will be filed in connection with an accident that killed a motorcyclist Sunday morning on Clague Road, according to Westlake police Capt. Guy Turner.
Joe H. Smith, 34, of Bay Village, died after his motorcycle collided with a car that was turning left, Turner said.
The car was driven by Phyllis Gross, 79, of Sheffield, he said. Neither Gross nor her 76-year-old passenger was injured, according to police.
Westlake officers performed CPR on Smith before he was taken to Fairview Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Smith was riding a Ducati motorcycle and was wearing a helmet, Turner said.
Turner said the police investigation has not yet been completed. It will include estimates of the speeds of the vehicles involved, he said.
