The Bachelorette said she never thought she’d be marrying the guy with pink shoelaces.

 

Well, neither did a lot of other people.

 

But she plans to — and he’s Amherst Steele graduate Jesse Csincsak, a 26-year-old professional snowboarder who now lives in Breckenridge, Colo.

 

The unlikeliest choice from the beginning, Jesse somehow managed to win the heart of DeAnna Pappas because in the final show Monday night, he proposed, she accepted, and they set a wedding date for May 9, 2009.

 

It had been down to the final two guys — Jesse, a carefree, fun-loving kind of guy, and Jason, a straight-laced, no-nonsense dad.

 

She took them home to meet family members and Jason was their clear choice — probably because he schmoozed better than Jesse.

 

But in the end, DeAnna must have realized that Jason was kind of a goof and went instead with Jesse.

 

“With Jesse, what you see is what you get,” DeAnna said.

 

“She makes me tingle on the inside,” Jesse said.

 

“My parents had a great relationship. They’ve been married for 40 years. I never thought I’d find a soul mate, but I did,” he said as he gave his Greek beauty the umpteenth kiss of the night.

 

The only question remaining — well, besides the obvious “Will it last?” — is whether Jesse will abide by his future father-in-law’s wishes.

 

It was pretty obvious the dad was pulling for the other guy when Jesse asked him for his daughter’s hand in marriage — if she picked him.

 

“You have to promise you’ll cut your hair if you end up with my daughter,” he said.

 

Jesse was momentarily caught off guard but he was quick on his feet as he smiled and reached out his hand.

 

“We’ll blow it up,” he said, describing what he was offering the dad — a closed-fisted handshake followed by all fingers extended.

 

He offered the show’s host the same closed-fisted shake after the couple was presented with a honeymoon trip to Greece.

 

“I’m the happiest woman in the world,” DeAnna said.
