To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Tonya Burwell, and I live in Lagrange, OH. I am organizing to hold the Third “Surviving Brain Tumors Awareness Event,” at CSU where I attend college. I am a brain tumor patient, and I became a ten year survivor this past February.
At my event I distribute brain tumor information from the nine national brain tumor organizations, have brain tumor survivors come share their stories, hold a Silent Auction which has items from organizations in the community such as the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, Playhouse Square, and local radio stations. We have also already raised $575 from donations from individuals in the community.
We also have a display of hats brought in called “Hidden Under Our Hats,” which is a chain of hats linked together. Each hat has a person’s personal story, with their name, type of tumor, age at diagnosis, and some have the person’s interests and/or hobbies. Each hat represents a person, and tells a story.
All the funds we raise will be donated to one of ten of the national brain tumor organizations. All the brain tumor organizations help in brain tumor research, and donate their funds to brain tumor patients who are going through surgeries and/or treatment. My phone number is: 440-315-9878. Type your comment here. I have asked many times in the past and am now asking again. Why is it that the Chronicle Telegram does not put engagement, marriage, and birth announcements in the electronic edition???

I do genealogy research as do many others who live out of state and would like to see our relatives engagements, marriages and births in the paper.

I know that the Moring Journal from Lorain does put engagements and marriage announcemnts in their paper. Alot of times these are not always included in the regualr printed edition of the Chronicle. But if they are I feel they sould also be included in the electronic edition

Sandra —
The vital information that is available to us — births, deaths, marriage licenses, divorces — is also available to you. It is public record.
You can find it on court and health department Web sites.
Anniversaries and engagements? That’s another story. There is no public record that contains those. The only way we get that information is if someone tells us about it.
By the way, when you see engagements and anniversaries on another paper’s Web site, most of the time it is because somebody paid that paper to have it put there.
When on the Internet, I know it’s tempting to expect free information at every click. But you have to remember that free information is out there only because a person took the time to put it there.
