Carol A. Ritter (nee Brown), 70, of Elyria, died Monday at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a seven year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born April 3, 1937 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Mrs. Ritter worked as a registered Nurse for 30 years at Lorain Community Health Partners, EMH Regional Medical Center, and most recently at New Life Hospice, retiring in 1998. She was a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church in Elyria, and enjoyed knitting, walking, and doing crafts with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Walter "Rea" Ritter; daughters, Jane Barbee of Elyria, and Kathy Hurst of Avon Lake; son, Scott Ritter of Grafton; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Gene Brown of Grafton.
She was preceded in death by  her parents, Earl and Edith Brown.
Friends may call Thursday from 12 P.M. until the time of services at 2 P.M. at the Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Road at State Rt. 57, Elyria. The Rev. Janet Long, pastor of Washington Avenue Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
