The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Carol A. Ritter

Carol A. Ritter (nee Brown), 70, of Elyria, died Monday at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a seven year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born April 3, 1937 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Mrs. Ritter worked as a registered Nurse for 30 years at Lorain Community Health Partners, EMH Regional Medical Center, and most recently at New Life Hospice, retiring in 1998. She was a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church in Elyria, and enjoyed knitting, walking, and doing crafts with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Walter "Rea" Ritter; daughters, Jane Barbee of Elyria, and Kathy Hurst of Avon Lake; son, Scott Ritter of Grafton; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Gene Brown of Grafton.
She was preceded in death by  her parents, Earl and Edith Brown.
Friends may call Thursday from 12 P.M. until the time of services at 2 P.M. at the Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Road at State Rt. 57, Elyria. The Rev. Janet Long, pastor of Washington Avenue Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions can be made to the CHP Regional Foundation / New Life Hospice, 3700 Kolbe Road, Lorain, OH 44052.
