The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Lawrence Showalter Jr.

Lawrence "Larry" Showalter Jr., 72, of Elyria, left this earthly world to be with the Lord on May 26, 2007 at the Wesleyan Village after a long illness. Born in Louisville, Kentucky he came to reside in Elyria at the age of 12. Larry was a graduate of Elyria High School class of 1953. He proudly served his country from 1956 to 1963 in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion Post 12 and VFW Post 1079. He also was a past member of the Elyria Cascade Chordsman Barbershop Singers. He enjoyed playing golf and watching sports, especially, his sons playing softball.
Survivors include his loving wife of over eight years, Marsha (nee Brunn); two sons, Larry and Craig of Elyria; and grandchildren, Tony Herring and Janelle Showalter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ella (nee Gaunt) Showalter.
Friends will be received Thursday, May 31, 2007 from 10 to 11 A.M. in the parlor of First United Methodist Church, 312 Third St., Elyria, where the memorial service will be at 11 A.M. in the Chapel. Burial will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brookpark. Military Honors will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Thomas Mihalis, Post 1079 of Elyria. Arrangements are being handled by Wyers Funeral Chapel of Sheffield Twp.
