The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

George Howard Clark

George Howard Clark, 88, of Ervin Rd., Morganton, NC died Friday, May 25, 2007 at Burke Hospice Palliative Care Center following a period of declining health. Born in Argyle, Manitoba, Canada on December 18, 1918, he was the son of the late Frederick Cyrus Clark and Caroline "Carrie" Stumbles Clark.
He was the youngest of  nine siblings. He was raised in Detroit after his family lost the farm in Manitoba in 1926. He joined the army in 1945 and served as a M.P. in Washington D.C., where he met his first wife, Ethel. They lived in North Ridgeville from 1950 to 1988 where they raised their family. In 1988 they moved to Morganton, in the foothills region of North Carolina. He worked as a draftsman for Bendix Westinghouse for 28 years. He enjoyed reading, genealogy and traveling. He and Ethel were founding members of the Black River Trail Blazers, a camping club and affiliate of the National Camper and Hiker Assoc. (NCHA).
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Stiefel Clark; an infant son; a daughter, Eileen Clark; and eight brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his wife, Judith Reichert of Morganton; sons, Brian Clark of Seattle, WA and Gary Clark of Elyria; daughters, Barbara Clark of Attleboro, MA, Vivian Clark of Cooperstown, NY, and Kerry Clark of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Johannah and Kate Hupp-Clark, Rachel and Carlen Adler, Jemma Clark, and Ryan Jackson.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Sossoman Funeral Home, Morganton, NC. Memorial gifts may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690. Condolences may be made online at www.sossomanfuneralservice.com.
