The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

William Leon McKim, 82, of Valley City, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 29, 2007. He was born on August 20, 1924 in Piney Fork, to Chester and Cora McKim. Bill has resided in Medina County for 58 years. He was a member of York United Methodist Church, where he has served as Trustee for many years. Bill served as an Institution Representative for the Boy Scouts of America for 25 years, former President of the Liverpool PTA, member of the School Employee Retirement System and Robertson Bereavement Center- Circle of Friends. Bill had worked for the former Clifton Concrete Co. years ago and retired as a custodian with Buckeye Local School System. He always enjoyed raising a large vegetable garden.
Bill is survived by his children, Carol (Chuck) Stinnett, Medina, Rev. Keith (Louise) McKim, Kentucky, Leonard (Cheryl) McKim and Wayne (Angelene) McKim, both of Medina, Dwight (Lysa) McKim, Valley City; grandchildren, Kathy, Kristina, Michal, Heather, Aubrey and Tara; great Grandchildren-, Olivia, Vanessa and Camren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phoebe, 1997; his parents; a brother, Elward McKim and sister, Althea VanCamp.
Calling hours are Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City, and 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Friday at the church. Funeral Service will Friday, 11:00 A.M. at the York United Methodist Church, 6566 Norwalk Road, Medina, Rev. Stephen Costello will be officiating. Burial will be in York Township Cemetery, Mallet Creek. Memorials suggested if desired, may be made to the York United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
