Julian F. "Foot" Forthofer, 82, died Monday, April 30, 2007, at St. John West Shore Hospital, Westlake. He was born November 21, 1924 in Avon, and was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of the Avon High School class of 1942, where he lettered in basketball, football, and track. He was owner and founder of Avon Hardware/Gun and Tack established in 1948. He was an avid hunter, trap shooter, and outdoorsman. He was a founding member of Avon Sportsman Club, life member of the Amatuer Trap Shooting Assoc., and life member of both the NRA and Ducks Unlimited. He was a member of the Silver Wheels Cycle Club. He enjoyed following his children’s and grandchildren’s sports and activities. He was a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, N. Ridgeville, where he was active in the Prime Timers and was a Minister of Hospitality.
He is survived by his wife, Norma (nee Linden); children, Linda (Michael Uzelac) Forthofer, of Avon, Dr. Lawrence (Dr. Marsha Heinke) Forthofer, of Grafton, Daniel (Ann) Forthofer, of Avon, Joseph "Pete" (Deborah) Forthofer, of Whitefish, MT, Charles (Preston Phillips) Forthofer, of Bridgehampton, NY, Lisa (Kenneth) Matuszak, of Avon; six grandchildren, Brian, Jason, Joseph, Justin, Kelsey and Tyler.
He was preceded in death by brother, Dr. Clinton Forthofer; and a sister, Ruth Plas.
Family will receive friends Thursday 7 to 9 P.M. and Friday 5 to 8 P.M. at the Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Rd., Avon, where closing prayers will be Saturday 10:15 A.M., followed by an 11 A.M. Mass at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, N. Ridgeville, with the Rev. Richard Gonser, Pastor, officiating. Interment St. Mary Cemetery, Avon. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J.
