Theresa “Omi” Gundert


Theresa "Omi" Gundert (nee Timar), 83, of Avon, passed away peacefully at her home, with family by her side, Sunday, June 03, 2007. She was born in Zsambek, Hungary on December 12, 1923 to John and Anna (nee Gigler) Timar. She was married to Joseph Gundert on October 30, 1948 in German. She came to American in 1952 and made her home in Avon. Theresa "Omi" worked for many years at Katie Kreutzer’s and then Miller’s Country Place Restaurants, Avon. She enjoyed cooking, baking and crocheting. Her love was passed on to so many with the wonderful pastries, afghans and lap warmers. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Avon and the Ladies Guild.  She was also a member of the Donauschwaben German Club of Olmsted Falls.
Survivors include her daughter, Irene Gehring (Thomas) of Spencer; son, Bob Gundert (Terri) of Wellington; grandchildren, Christine Gehring (Jim Burns), Thomas Gehring II, (Crystal), Jason Gundert (Ashley), Katherin Gundert, Daniel Gundert and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by seven sisters, Mary Weber, Anna Zakorowsky, Irene Bendzuck, Agnes Duldner, Betty Nimmons, Rose Honey and Eva Sosath; and three brothers, Al Timar, Lester Timar and Adam Timar.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Joseph; a granddaughter, Carolyn Gehring; parents, John and Anna (nee Gigler) Timar; and a brother, John Timar, Jr.
Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon, Tuesday, June 5 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. A prayer service will be at the funeral home at 11:15 A.M. Wednesday, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial, in Holy Trinity Church, 33601 Detroit Rd., Avon at noon. Fr. John Misenko of the Church will officiate.
