The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Oris Jackson "Jack" Adkins, Jr., 82, of Sheffield Township, died on Sunday, June 3, 2007 at Specialty Hospital of Lorain, following a brief illness. He was born on June 21, 1924 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, moving to Lorain many years ago. He was employed as a welder at Timken Manufacturing Company, in Columbus for many years. Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching tractor pulls and caring for his dog, Rocky.
He is survived by his sons: Dwayne (Cheryl) Adkins, of Columbus, Samuel (Wendy) Adkins, of Lorain, daughters: Terri (Chris) Esign, of Lancaster, Kathie Henson, of Lorain, Florence Newman, of Lorain, Stephanie Adkins and Jennifer Adkins, both of Elyria and Judy (Roger) Fye of Sheffield Township; son in law, Bill Newman and sister in law Marclyn Gleason; 27 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Rainey, of Lancaster; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gracie S. (nee Rainey) Adkins in 1990; parents, Oris J. Adkins, Sr and Carrie Adkins; son, Pinky Rainey; daughter, Jodi Cotton; brother, Samuel Adkins and sister, Sally Adkins.
