The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Ralph D. Hofelzer

Ralph D. Hofelzer, 49, passed away suddenly, Monday, June 4, 2007 at Lakewood Hospital.  He was a life long resident of Avon Lake. Ralph graduated from Avon Lake High School in 1977 and then attended Lorain County Community College. He worked as a machine operator at Welded Ring Products in Cleveland for 20 years. He was a Scout Master for Troop 300, enjoyed hunting, back packing, fishing and he tied flys. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Avon Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sue M. (nee Ketterer); his two children, Melissa Hofelzer and Michael Hofelzer, both of Avon Lake; a grandson, Ian; his parents, Ralph L. and Joan R. (Schaefer) Hofelzer; his brothers, Russell Hofelzer of Avon Lake, Richard Hofelzer, out of town; and sister, Susan Johns of Marblehead.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, with whom he spent much time, Mary and Irvin Schaefer.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 P.M., Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon Belden Rd., Avon Lake. The mass of Christian burial will be at 10 A.M.
