Gemela A. Archer (nee: Kaleel), 75, of Elyria died Wednesday at her home following a brief illness. She was born June 4, 1932 in Cleveland and lived in Elyria for most of her life. Mrs. Archer worked as a clerk for the Lorain County Clerk of Courts for 16 years, retiring in 1993. Following her retirement, she volunteered at the Nord Center in Elyria. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her daughters, Victoria Ford of Lauderhill, FL, and Patricia Archer of Ft. Lauderdale, FL: son, William Archer of Elyria; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, June Zamen of Lakewood, and Sylvia Kaleel of Elyria; brothers, Joseph and David Kaleel, both of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William in 2000; and her parents, Moses and Dorothy Kaleel.
Friends may call Monday from 12 P.M. until the time of a memorial service at 1 P.M. at the Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Rd. at State Rt. 57, Elyria. The Rev. John P. Seabold, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton will officiate. Private burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
