Douglas P. Malone

Douglas P. Malone Sr., 72, of Grafton, died Monday, June 18, 2007 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in Glen White, WV, and had lived in Grafton for the past eight years. Prior to moving to Grafton he resided in North Ridgeville for over 30 years. He was a 1953 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, WV and had attended Baldwin Wallace College in Berea for two years.
He was employed by the Ford Motor Company for 51 years of credited service and retired in 1998. While at Ford he worked as a Millwright and then as a Union Committeeman. He then served as the International Benefits Representative for the last 21 years that he was with Ford.
He was a member of UAW Local #1250 in Brook Park and also was a member of the Brook Park Community Church of the Brethren. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Green Bay Packers, anything Notre Dame and NASCAR. He also enjoyed golfing, gardening, music and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Jean (nee Sheme) (formerly Horner); three sons, Douglas P. Malone Jr. of Chillicothe, David Malone Sr. (Paula) of Crestwood, KY, and Kevin Malone of North Ridgeville; two step-daughters, Cyndi Bova (Chuck) of Brunswick and Kim Manochi (Steve) of Brunswick; one step-son, Dony Horner (Terry) of Seville; one granddaughter, Angela Malone; three grandsons, Ryan Malone, Kyle Malone and David Malone Jr.; eight step-grandchildren, Sean Brunner, Zach Corcoran, Samantha and Chaz Bova, Dony and Dylan Horner, Savanah and Joe Manochi; two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David A. and Rose (nee Coley) Malone; three brothers, Pat, Hugh and Bob Malone; three sisters, Theresa Gilliespie, Ruth Malone and Elizabeth Martin.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the Liston Funeral home, 36403 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, where Funeral Services will be 11 A.M.  Rev. Terry Vaught from Brook Park Community Church of the Brethren, will officiate. Burial will be at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Township. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
