The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Helen A. Hentges (nee Kiser), 100, passed away June 17, 2007 at Avon Oaks Nursing Facility in Avon. She was born on December 19, 1906 in Elyria, the daughter of the late George J. and Louise Kiser (nee Foss). Helen graduated from Elyria High School in 1925 and married Robert J. Hentges, of Lorain in 1929. After living in Norwalk for several years, they moved to Avon Lake in 1941. There, she and her husband owned and operated Bob’s Market for twenty five years. Helen was a member of St. Joseph Church in Avon Lake, and with her husband were participating founders in 1949. She enjoyed bowling and in 1974/75 was a team member of the Cardi Lanes Lady Champs.
Surviving are sons, Donald R. Hentges of Bowling Green and Robert A. Hentges of Vermilion; sister, Mildred C. Hentges-Urias of Elyria. There are seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Hentges in 1979; and a brother, George M. Kiser in 1983.
There will be no visitation. Funeral Services with a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Joseph Church, Lake Road, Avon Lake, at 10 A.M. Friday, June 22, 2007. Rev. Timothy O’Connor, Pastor of the church, will serve as celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain. Arrangements by Busch Funeral Home in Avon Lake.
