Tom Paul Davenport, 66, of Spencer, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2007 at his home. He was born February 28, 1941 in Elyria, to Paul and Lois M. Kime Davenport. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1959, Bowling Green State University in 1963 and later received his Masters degree from Kent State University.
Mr. Davenport was a Science and Biology teacher as well as a coach at Cloverleaf Schools, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Spencer First Baptist Church where he had been a Sunday School teacher, Deacon and Elder.
He excelled in baseball, basketball and football in his younger years and was an avid fisherman and golfer in his later years.
Surviving are his wife, Mary (nee Walkden); children, Tomas (Erika Sue) Davenport of Naples, FL, Jeffrey (Melinda) Davenport of Spencer, Amy (Steven) Carlson of Spencer; seven grandchildren, Riley, Tanner, Tyler, Max and Macey Carlson, Barrett & Aaron; mother, Lois Davenport of Wellington; sister, Alice (James) Schaub of Delaware; father and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Bernice Walkden of Spencer; and numerous family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 9 P.M. at Parker & Son Funeral Home, 202 East Main St., Spencer. Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at 11 A.M. at the First Baptist Church of Spencer, 302 W. Main St., Spencer. Pastors Jeff Mullet and Mark Gostlin will officiate. Burial will follow at Spencer Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Spencer, P.O. Box 127, Spencer, OH 44275.
