Annie J. Carey

Annie J. "Ann" Carey (nee Holcomb), 67, of Elyria, died Friday, June 16, 2007 of natural causes. Born in Camden, AR, Mrs. Carey attended the Arkansas school system, graduating, and coming to Elyria in 1966.
A member of Mt. Nebo Primitive Baptist Church, Mrs. Carey was a church mother, a member of the kitchen committee and a pastor’s aide, and assisted in feeding the homeless in the community.
An employee of General Motors for 25 years, Mrs. Carey enjoyed reading, cooking and doing puzzles.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Noel Carey Sr.; daughter, Deborah Whitfield, Alice Colbert, Amanda Phillips, Sharon McGee, all of Elyria, Sanrae Onyeneke of Avon; son, Noel Carey Jr. of Elyria; father, Artis Holcomb; mother, Ruby Harris; sisters, Mary Ida Ford, Ruby Jean Porchia, Helen Manley, Delores Montgomery, Ernestine Mackenzie, all of Camden, AR, and Mary Frances Evans of Pine Bluff, AR; brother, John Harris Jr., of Camden, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, John Harris Sr.; grandparents, Hester and Ida Howard; and sister, Catherine Perifoy.
Friends may call Friday from 10 A.M. until 12 Noon at the Second Baptist Church, 427 Chapman Lane, Elyria, where services will be held on Friday at Noon. Rev. James L. Price, Pastor of Mt. Nebo Primitive Baptist Church will officiate. Burial to follow immediately in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Arrangements entrusted to Dennis W. Carter, LFD. & Carter Funeral Homes, Inc., Elyria.
