The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Grady Elerson

Grady Elerson, Sr., 81, of Elyria died Friday at EMH Regional Medical Center following a long illness.

He was born October 3, 1925 in El Dorado, AR, and was an Elyria resident for 55 years.

Mr. Elerson retired as a truck driver for Indianhead Trucking in Independence. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, gardening, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Janice (nee Berg); daughters, Misty Wood and Tanya Elerson, both of Elyria; sons, Grady Elerson, Jr. of Flint, MI, Eddie Elerson of Plano, TX and Richard Elerson of Elyria; and three granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Simms and Estell Elerson.

Friends may call Wednesday from 11 A.M. until the time of services at 1 P.M. at the Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Rd. at State Rt. 57, Elyria. The Rev. Max E. Wood, pastor of Midview Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
