The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Andrew J. Abahazi

Andrew J. "Andy" Abahazi, 83, of Carlisle Twp., died Monday, June 25, 2007 at his home following a long illness. He was born September 12, 1923 in Elyria and lived in Elyria for most of his life. Mr. Abahazi worked in Real Estate sales for many years. He was a W.W. II Army veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. He was a member of Crooked Fork Baptist Church in Perkins, WV, and was a life member of the Disabled American Veteran’s Chapter 49, American Legion Post 12, and the V.F.W. Post 1079.
Survivors include his daughters, Pamela Rainey and Andrea Nottingham, both of Elyria and Sheila Turner of North Ridgeville; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Julia Dudukovitch of Avon, Ida Sofra of Temple City, CA, Eleanor Kopp and Carol Kopp, both of Elyria; brother, Eugene Carter of CA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl "Evelyn" on March 29, 2006; sisters, Betty Jones, Margaret Kress, and Vera Ralich; and a brother, Oscar Abahazi.
Friends may call Thursday, 4 to 7 P.M. at the Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Rd. at State Rt. 57, Elyria. Funeral Services will be Friday at 1 P.M. in the funeral home.
Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 East 185th St., Cleveland, OH 44119 or to the Crooked Fork Baptist Church, 599 Brier Lick Rd., Rosedale, WV 26635.
