The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Leonard J. Dudziak

Leonard J. "Lenny" Dudziak, 83, of Phoeniz, AZ, formerly of Lorain, died on Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at the John C. Lincoln Hospital, Phoenix, AZ, after a lengthy illness. He was born on October 22, 1923 in Lorain. Leonard attended Lorain Schools and was a 1942B graduate of Lorain High School.
He had served in the United States Army from 1945 until 1947. During his time enlisted in the Army, he had earned both, a Victory Medal and an Army of Occupation Medal, Japan.
After the Army, he was employed by US Steel as a shipper, retiring from there in 1986.
He was a member of United Steelworkers Local #1104, where he was the Blood Bank co-chairman for many years.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, where he was an usher for many years.  He was also a member of the Holy Name Society, where he was named Holy Name Man of the Year.
He was a member of the United Polish Club, Polish American Citizens Club, and the Polish Legion of American Veterans, where he was a member of the color guard.
He enjoyed attending the local weekly fish fries and the many other ethnic dinners that were held throughout the city.
He is survived by his daughter, Joanne (Tom) Waltz of Phoenix, AZ; and his two granddaughters, Theresa Waltz of Tucson, AZ, and Katherine of Jacksonville, FL, who is in the US Navy.
He is also survived by his sisters, Frances Rapolz of Elyria, Cecilia Kowalczyk and Emily Torrens both of Lorain; and a good friend, Sophie Holowecki of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Eleanor (nee Rumph), in 1992; a daughter, Loretta; a son, Lawrence; his parents, Karl and Katherine (nee Kulik); a brother, Richard; and two sisters, Mary Erving and Veronica Palmer.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 29, 2007, from 4 to 8 P.M. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, with a Holy Name Rosary Service at 7 P.M. Friends may also gather on Saturday, June 30 prior to 10 A.M. Mass at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, E. 28th Street & Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev.
