The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Junior Gibson

Junior Lee Gibson, beloved husband and father, 72, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Community Health Partners in Lorain following an extended illness. He was born April 1, 1935 in Fenwick, West Virigina. He was raised in the Webster Springs area. At the age of 18, he moved to Canton where he resided for 40 years.  In 1993, he moved to Lorain where he made his home for the last 14 years. Junior was employed as an electrician at Republic Steel Company for 32 years before retiring in 1984. He previously owned and operated J.L. Gibson Photography in Canton for 25 years. He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Lorain where he was a past treasurer and served as a trustee.
Survivors include his wife, Kathlea "Kathy" Gibson (nee  Friend); son, Dwayne (Sandra) Gibson of North Canton; daughters, Pamela (Jason) Slicker of Massilion, Karen (Jon) Nelson of Tucson, AZ; brothers William "Bill" Gibson of Brownsville, Texas, Elmer Gibson of Webster Springs, West Virginia, Cameron Gibson of Portland, Oregon and Edwin Gibson of Webster Springs, West Virginia; sister Joyce Kay Morris of Fairmont, West Virginia; brother and sister in law, Don and Mildred Friend of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his sister Annette Job; brother Paul Gibson; and parents Elmer and Desta Gibson (nee Russell).
Friends may call Sunday, July 1, 2007 from 5 to 8 P.M. and Monday, July 2, 2007 at 9 A.M. until the Funeral Service at 10 A.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst.  The Rev. Darlene Robinson, pastor of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Camp Ideas, c/o Carol Mathews, 1524 S. Lakeview Blvd., Lorain, OH  44052, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements are being handled by the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst.
