Walter J. Makruski, 90, of Naples, FL, passed away on May 26, 2007. He was born in Amherst, on July 29, 1916 and lived most of his life in South Amherst, where he was employed as plant superintendent with Bendix Westinghouse. He was promoted and transferred to Frankfurt, KY as plant manager where he built the new factory. After he and his wife moved to Naples in 1972, he built Sybil’s Unique Boutique which they ran for the next five years. The remainder of his life he spent doing the things he enjoyed most which included golfing, cutting and setting stones for jewelry and spending time with his family.
Walter is survived by his wife, Sybil; daughter, Bettie Johnson; his granddaughter, Michelle Johnson; great-granddaughter, Alexyss Johnson, all of Naples; step-daughter, Kimberly Sue Biancardi of Wauchula, FL; sister, Clara Lovisa of Deming, NM; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life to honor Walter was held by his immediate family on Thursday evening, June 7, 2007 at his favorite place on Naples Bay. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Naples. Arrangements by Naples Funeral Home, 3107 Davis Blvd., Naples, FL.
