Charles A. Yonkings

Charles A. "Captain Chuck" Yonkings, 70, of Elyria, died Monday, July 2, 2007, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born March 17, 1937 in Lorain. He was a resident of Elyria for most of his life and spent his winters in Big Pine Key FL, for the past 27 years. He graduated from Clearview High School in the class of 1955. Mr. Yonkings owned and operated, along with his family, Deca Pools Inc., Elyria since 1980. He was also a Charter Boat Captain in the Keys for many years. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lorain and Land of the Seas Lutheran Church in Big Pine Key. Mr. Yonkings was the President of the Lower Keys Property Owners Association and was a member of  Loyal Order of the Moose in Big Pine Key, The Frank Harmon Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite and Al Koran Shriners. He touched the hearts of many people, enjoyed being with family and friends along with hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Dolores A. (nee Puskas); sons, Charles (Christianna) Yonkings and David (Christine) Yonkings; daughters, Laura (Mike)  Benko, all of Elyria and Lisa (Lee) Roberts of Spencer; 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dolores Winston of San Diego, CA, Mildred "Birdie" McGinnis, Sarah Simsic both of Lorain and  Ann Kieffer of Ft. Myers, FL.
He was preceded in death by parents, Borki & Mildred Stipanovich.
Friends will be received from 2 P.M. until the time of services at 7 P.M. Saturday at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd, N. Ridgeville. Rev. Dr. Linwood Chamberlain, Pastor of First Lutheran Church, Lorain will officiate.
