‘Small-town’ triplets pose in Playboy

Elyria women say appearance a ‘dream come true’

ELYRIA — Three new Playboy bunnies call Elyria home.
Triplets Vicki, Sarah and Rachel Satterfield, all 23, grace the pages of the men’s entertainment magazine’s August edition.
Although they’re touted as “Small-Town Triplets,” appearing nude in a six-page pictorial before 10 million Playboy readers, all three of the women are dreaming big.
“It was a dream come true,” said Vicki Satterfield. “We’re not shy, and it was something each of us have wanted to do since I can remember.”
The sisters grew up in Lorain before moving to Elyria, where they work as dancers at Diamond Men’s Club. They took it upon themselves to send in a picture to magazine founder Hugh Hefner and ask for the opportunity to pose.
Hefner, who first developed the magazine’s “girl next door” look in 1953, answered just four days later and sent an invitation for them to go to Los Angeles, where they met the mogul at a lavish New Year’s party when they were 19.
A photographer was sent out two years later to catch the trio in their local environment and snapped pictures in front of the old Avon Lake Theatre, Ghoulardi’s Bar and Grille in Lorain, the Shoreway Lanes bowling alley in Sheffield Lake and an old barn in Amherst.
“When they were putting us in position in the barn, I almost started crying,” Vicki Satterfield said. “I just couldn’t believe we were getting our photos taken by Playboy.”
Hundreds of pictures of the triplets now hang on the walls of the Elyria home they share, and range from nude Playboy photos to clothed poses from their teenage years.
But the first-ever picture of the trio remains one of their mother’s favorites. It was taken in the hospital the day they were born.
“They were beautiful even back then,” Noreen Satterfield said, holding back tears in her eyes. “I told them when they were kids that they could be and do anything they wanted to.”
Northeastern Ohio has been the home of nine Playboy Playmates — including 2004 Playmate of the Year Carmella DeCesare, from Avon Lake. Although the Satterfields haven’t achieved the status of Playmate, which is a term based on appearing as the magazine’s centerfold, each of them hope to one day earn that title.
They’ve got the support of locals like 45-year-old Paul Diffield Sr., who lives across the street from three of the newest “girls next door,” although he said he doesn’t look at the triplets as Playboy models.
“I don’t look at them that way,” he said. “They’re just nice girls. Cute, nice girls.”
