Paula M. Beckman (nee Fayette), 63, of Elyria, died at her home on Saturday, July 7, 2007, following a 16 year battle with cancer. Paula had been working as a registered nurse for the past 7½ years with Community Health Partners. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elyria. Paula and her husband joined Baptist Mid-Missions in 1984. She had served as a missionary nurse in a mission hospital and dispensary in the Central African Republic. In 1995, a recurrence of cancer meant they could not return to Africa. At that time, her husband joined the administration of Baptist Mid-Missions and Paula volunteered her services when needed. She loved helping with the nursery, her church family, and pastor, as well as various other church activities. She adored her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Larry J. Beckman, of Elyria; daughters, Jenee’ Bishop (husband Craig), of Des Moines, IA, Patricia Johnson (husband Brian), of Des Moines, IA; son, Nathan Beckman (wife Kamonthip), of Kabinburi, Thailand; seven grandchildren; and one brother, Michael Fayette (wife Carol), of Webster, NY.
