William Bagnall Timms, Jr.

William Bagnall Timms, Jr., 84, formerly of Elyria, died Saturday, July 7, 2007 at his Dataw, SC residence. Mr. Timms was born on June 20, 1923 in Cleveland.
He attended Western Reserve Academy in Hudson. He graduated from Cheshire Academy in Cheshire, CT and attended Columbia University.
He enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942 and served in Europe and North Africa for two years during WWII.
He attended Babson Institute of Business before joining his father in the family business in Elyria. At Timms Spring Company he served as general manager in charge of sales and production and as President and CEO until his retirement in 1988.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Lorain County Bank, The Elyria YMCA, The Elyria Country Club, Young Presidents Organization, St. Andrews Episcopal Church, and a 32nd degree Mason.
He was an enthusiastic fisherman, amateur jazz drummer, a protector and lover of animals and nature, and a caring mentor to his children and all their friends.
William Jr. is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sally Schram Timms; one son, William B. Timms III (Peggy) of Medina; four daughters, Ruth Jordan (Lance) of Fairborn; Regan Corboy (John) of Molokai, ILL, Elizabeth "Beth" Gravatt of Beaufort, SC, and Susan Weller (John) of Charlotte, NC; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William B. Timms, Sr. and Mame Roen Timms; a sister, Eleanor Timms Irish.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 from 4 to 6 P.M. at their Dataw, South Carolina residence. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 2 P.M. in St. Helena’s Episcopal Church, St. Helena, SC. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Island Hospice, 300 New River Parkway, Hardeeville, SC 29927 or Beaufort Memorial Hospital Foundation, Beaufort County Open Land Trust, Historic Beaufort Foundation or The YWCA of Beaufort. Anderson Funeral Home, Beaufort, SC is serving the family.
