Irene Helen Wohleber, 79, of Oberlin, died suddenly July 8, 2007 at the Allen Medical Center of Oberlin. She was born in Lakewood, July 7, 1928.
She lived in Oberlin most of her life and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Oberlin, the Altar & Rosary Society, and V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary #1079, A.A.R.P. #395 of Oberlin. Irene volunteered at Allen Medical Center for many years. She enjoyed recreational gambling, and spending time with her two granddaughters.
She is survived by her husband, Robert A.; daughter, Donna J. Stranges, Niagara Falls, NY; brothers, Martin Matus, Paul Matus, Edward Matus, Robert Matus, all of Wakeman; sister, Theresa Wukie, of Elyria; and two granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Molchan Matus; brother, Stephen Matus; and sister, Mary Leslie.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at the Cowling Funeral Home, Oberlin. There will be a Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. on Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 410 W. Lorain St., Oberlin. Father William B. Padavick will officiate. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Wakeman.
The family would like to thank Dr. Georgia Newman and the Staff at Allen Medical Center for their tender care of Irene H. Wohleber.
