Ernestine J. Gondor-Yuhas

Ernestine J. Gondor-Yuhas (nee Kos), 90, of Lorain, died Monday, July 9, 2007 at Golden Acres Nursing Home, Amherst, following a lengthy illness. She was born January 12, 1917 in Lorain; living in Barberton for ten years and the Elyria area before returning to Lorain.
She worked as a cook for Lorain Works U.S. Steel for 20 years, retiring in 1982.
Ernestine was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Lorain, and the Jolly Sixties in Elyria, and the Star Program through which she tutored children in Elyria.
She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, embroidering, baking and traveling.  She also enjoyed watching Cleveland Indians games, Slovenian polka music and dancing, and her family.
She is survived by son, Norman George Gondor of Elyria; daughters, Jacqueline Fisher of Avon, and Georgienne Zirkle of Avon; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Steve Kos of Elyria; sisters, Valerie Kos of Lorain, and Mary Vanca of Lorain; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 25 years, George Gondor; her second husband of five years, Nicholas Yuhas; parents, Antone Kos and Mary (nee Rozman) Kos; and a brother, Edward Kos.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where a parastas service will be at 7 P.M.
Funeral services will be Friday at 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 A.M. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 2711 W. 40th St., Lorain. Rev. Fr. Nicholas Rachford, pastor will officiate.
