Evelyn M. Barnhart (nee Rahl), 84, of Amherst Township, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at the New Life Hospice Center of Saint Joseph following an extended illness. Mrs. Barnhart was born in Amherst, on March 5, 1923 and had been a resident of Lorain County for her entire life.
A graduate of Lorain High School, she worked briefly in the foundry industry following her graduation.
In her free time she enjoyed league bowling and was a multiple champion in lady’s doubles competition throughout the area. Additional interests included attending flea markets and garage sales.
She is survived by a brother, Claude M. Rahl of Lorain; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson “Darby” Barnhart in 1998; by her father, A.W. Rahl (former President of the Lorain Builder’s Association); her mother, Edith (nee Battenhouse) Rahl; along with a brother, Leroy Rahl.
Visitation will be Monday from 10 A.M. until time of Services at 11 A.M. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Art Wiegand will officiate. Burial will follow in North Murray Ridge Cemetery in Elyria Township.
