AVON LAKE — An Avon Lake Service Department employee was fined $2,000 for aggravated menacing and inducing panic after threatening Giant Eagle employees in April.
Patrick Bugaj was arrested April 21 after making threatening phone calls to Giant Eagle store employees in Avon Lake and Sheffield, according to a Sheffield police report.
His barrage of phone calls began when he was apparently put on hold for too long while requesting a prescription from the Avon Lake Giant Eagle. He proceeded to call the store manager and threaten to choke her, according to Sheffield police Lt. Ron Trifiletti.
Bugaj then called the Sheffield Giant Eagle, and identified himself before threatening to shoot someone and “blow up half of Ohio,” the report said. He also told the store manager that he was “a Type II diabetic and was not having a good day,” according to the report.
Bugaj pleaded guilty last month in Avon Lake Municipal Court and was fined $1,000 for aggravated menacing and an additional $1,000 for inducing panic.
