Amherst since 1945.
Edward had been employed as a journeyman electrician with the IEBW Local 129 for over 40 years retiring in 1987.  He loved his work and helped wire many of the large plants and buildings in the area.  He also rewired the kitchen of his home church, Old Stone United Methodist Church in Amherst.
He loved yardwork, especially flower gardening, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 71 years, Catherine Ann Herchler (nee Mullen); and his brothers, Floyd Herchler and Larry Stumpp, both of Amherst; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews; and his very good friends and neighbors, Ron and Susan Bartosch.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Herchler (nee Axt); by his brothers, Curtis, Elmer and Clarence; and by his sisters, Katherine Carrier, Caroline Rose, Cora Drotleff, Ruth Schneider, and Eleanore Herchler.
Friends may call Monday, July 23, 2007  from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. The Rev. Daniel Reinke, pastor of Park Ave. United Methodist Church in Amherst,
will officiate.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Old Stone United Methodist Church, 553 South Main St., Amherst, OH 44001 or CHP/New Life Hospice, 3700 Kolbe Rd., Lorain, OH 44053.
