The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Garnet "Jean" Butcher (nee Coulter), 91, of Elyria, passed away Friday, July 20, 2007 at the Wesleyan Village in Elyria of natural causes. She was born June 1, 1916 in Sutton, WV and has resided in Elyria since 1955.
Jean enjoyed flowers, vegetable gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Tom C. Weese of Elyria; six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Thomas W., Scott and Christopher Weese, Kimberly Scheffler and Candy Simpson; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Butcher; sisters, Phyllis Tenney and Marie Crawford; a brother, Commador Coulter, Jr.; and her parents, Commador and Mary Coulter ( nee Claypool).
Friends may call at the Chapel of Resthaven Memory Gardens, 3700 Center Rd., Avon from 11 to 11:30 A.M. on Monday, July 23, 2007, where funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M.
Memorials may be forwarded to the American Diabetes Association of Northeast Ohio, 4500 Rockside Rd., Suite 440, Independence, OH 44131. Arrangements by Busch Funeral Home in Elyria.
