Kenny Lofton coming “home”

It won’t be long before a scoring Kenny Lofton will be high-fiving Indians teammates — instead of the Texas Ranger teammates he is shown pressing the flesh with earlier this month.

Because Lofton, a fan favorite during the Indians’ era of champions, is coming back to Cleveland . The Indians announced the deal this afternoon. They acquired him from Texas for minor league catcher Max Ramirez.

It will be Lofton’s third stint with the Indians, the most recent one being during Cleveland’s last trip to the playoffs in 2001.

The Tribe also announced it has optioned starting pitcher Cliff Lee to Triple A Buffalo.
