Walter Rea Ritter

Walter Rea Ritter, 81, of Elyria, died Friday, July 27, 2007 at Elyria Memorial Hospital. He was born November 6, 1925 in New Philadelphia to the late Walter and Edna (nee Heinig) Ritter.
Mr. Ritter had worked in the automotive industry in sales, and was very involved in the Elyria Sports Hall of Fame, was a basketball referee, a volunteer with the American Cancer Society, Board of Elections, was a driver for Jack Matia Honda, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by daughters, Jane Barbee of Elyria, Kathy Hurst of Avon Lake; and son, Scott Ritter of Grafton; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Margaret Carson of Mansfield.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Carol Ann; sisters, Mary Myers and Elizabeth Ernest.
Friends may call Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at the Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home at Chestnut Ridge Rd. and State Rt. 57, Elyria from 11 A.M. until time of services at 1:30 P.M. Rev. Janet Long, Pastor of The Washington Ave. Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery.
