The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Robert T. Wellman, 66, of Elyria, died Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at Elyria Memorial Hospital. He was born May 5, 1941 in Chattaroy, WV.
Mr. Wellman was an electrician with Manior Electroalloys.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, was a former Mason, and loved to cook for family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Hayden T. (wife Terri) of Avon; grandchildren, Tyler, Maggie, Carleen; and brother, Jack of St. Joseph, TN.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; and parents, Hayden and Hazel (nee Copley).
Friends may call 4 to 7 P.M. Friday at the Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home at Chestnut Ridge Rd. and State Rt. 57, Elyria, where closing prayers will be held at 9:30 A.M. Saturday.
The funeral Mass will be 10 A.M. Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1417 West Ave., Elyria. Rev. Edmund Goldbach, Pastor, will be the Celebrant.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Elyria, where military honors will be provided by VFW Post #1079.
