The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

William K. Porter, 79, of Elyria, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Oberlin. He was born July 21, 1928 in Elyria and remained a life long resident of Lorain County. He was a graduate of Elyria High School.
In his early years Mr. Porter worked as a milk delivery man for the family dairy operation in Grafton. He would later become the owner of the dairy operation.
He retired from Invacare in 1993 after 22 years of service. In his retirement he continued to work at Forest Hills Golf Course.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps.
Mr. Porter was an avid sports fan with a particular affinity for the game of golf, and he loved watching the EHS boy’s basketball team. He also participated in stock car and motorcycle racing.
Mr. Porter was a member of the United Polish Club.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Olga (nee Zukowski) of Elyria; sons, William of Louisville, KY, Thomas and Richard Porter of OH; daughters, Jean Porter and Cynthia Finnegan of OH; brother, Alan of OH; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mary (nee Eastwood) Porter; and his brother, Richard.
Friends may call Friday, August 3, 2007, from 4 to 8 P.M. at Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria, where services will be held Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 11 A.M. Fr. Al Krupp of St. Agnes Catholic Church, will officiate. Interment Private.
