Berta Mae Redwine

Berta Mae Redwine, 91, of Wellington, formerly of Crossville, TN, died Thursday, August 1, 2007 at the Elms Nursing Home after a long illness. Berta was born March 20, 1916 in Crab Orchard, TN.

She worked as a seamstress at the Cattoosa Knitting Mill for 25 years. She enjoyed telling stories of how she assembled the American Flags during WWII. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and her pride and joy was her great-great-nephew, Ryan Whitney. She was a mother and grandma to all her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by nieces, Kathy Marlett, Elizabeth Murray, Lena Rodachy, Margie Burgos, Donna and Debra Stone; nephew, William Stone; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Clara Clifton Redwine; sisters, Gladys Stone, Jessie Hamby, Ruby Miller, Alice Hyder, Edith Sloan; brothers, Bob, Jack, Junior and Elmer Redwine.

Graveside services will be 11 A.M. Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington. Pastor Robert Eddy, from Toledo Road Church of Christ will officiate. T.G. Cowling Funeral Home of Wellington is handling local arrangements.
