LORAIN — Beach advisory signs that were posted at Lakeview Park last Thursday warning of unsafe levels of E. coli have been left up because of Tuesday’s storms.

“We talked with the Ohio Department of Health, and we both thought it was wise to leave the signs up because of the storms,” said Park Manager Bryan Goldthorpe. “Storms tend to bring with them high levels of bacteria.”

E. coli levels at the beach came out at 192 E. coli colonies per 100 milliliters of water on Tuesday, just barely in normal range.

Levels are considered unsafe when they reach 235 colonies per 100 milliliters.

Levels at Century Park were tested at 211 E. coli colonies per 100 milliliters of water.
