Donald James Guild, 55 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2007 at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria following a sudden illness. He was born August 2, 1952 in Amherst. Donald was raised in Amherst and Brownhelm Township, graduating from Firelands High School with the class of 1970. He has been a resident of Elyria since 1973.
Donald was employed with Cuyahoga Co. Vending and Dining as a driver and distributor, and also worked at U.S. Steel in Lorain and Klingshirn Construction. He was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion. He loved
playing baseball, antique cars, and watching Indians baseball.
Survivors include his mother, Eleanor Guild (nee: Braun) of Vermilion; his brother, William Guild of Wakeman; his sisters, Carol Burgos of Berlin Heights and Diane Guild of Lorain; and several nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Adelbert Guild on March 18, 1958.
Friends may call Monday, August 13, 2007 from 7 to 9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at 11 A.M. from the funeral home. The Rev. Fr. Jim Holmer, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion, will officiate. Burial will be in Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria, OH 44035.
