Mother sues over son hurt while on fair ride

ELYRIA — The mother of a Portville, N.Y., boy who was cut on a ride at the Lorain County Fair two years ago is suing the amusement company that ran the “Tower of Terror Slide” at the fair.

According to the lawsuit, filed Monday in county Common Pleas Court, the boy cut his arm on an exposed sharp edge where ride workers had cut away a portion of the slide so they could reach children who didn’t come all the way down. Bates Brothers Amusement Co. and its employees were negligent in not taking steps to keep the edge from cutting anyone who slid down the slide in 2005, Stacy Sturdevant’s lawsuit said.
