TODAY’S PRACTICES: 8:45-10:45 a.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m.
WHAT HAPPENED: Brady Quinn’s first practice in front of the fans was a snoozer. The Browns went mostly half-speed, working on some of Detroit’s plays. Quinn took only a couple of snaps with the first and second teams. At least the fans got to see Kellen Winslow try to start a wave through the crowd.
WHAT’S NEXT: The Browns have their second-to-last two-a-day scheduled for today.
THE QB DERBY: Coach Romeo Crennel acknowledged Charlie Frye played better than Derek Anderson on Saturday night, but said the competition’s still open. No one had an edge in the extended walkthrough Monday.
SITTING OUT: Linebacker Andra Davis (ankle) was limited. Guard Eric Steinbach (knee) is out for at least another week.
BACK IN ACTION: Receiver Tim Carter (thumb), cornerback Kenny Wright (groin), guard Isaac Sowells (concussion) and defensive lineman J’Vonne Parker (concussion) took the field again.
CAMPER OF THE DAY: Cornerback Gary Baxter, returning from two torn patellar tendons, saw his first time in team drills. He was the right cornerback with the scout team. The practice wasn’t full-go, but he matched up with starting receivers Joe Jurevicius and Braylon Edwards and held his own.
PLAY OF THE DAY: Ken Dorsey rolled right and threw for Efram Hill near the sideline. Eric Wright tipped it and Leigh Bodden intercepted.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: “He said, ‘You picked up right where I left off.’” – rookie left tackle Joe Thomas, quoting a conversation with former tackle Doug Dieken after Thomas was called for two holding penalties Saturday. Dieken was known for holding.
