Julia Adams (nee Costanzo), 81, a resident of Lorain, passed away Monday, August 13, 2007 at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain. She was born October 8, 1925 in South Amherst, where she was raised and lived until her marriage at age 25. Lorain has been her home since 1950.
Julia was employed with the former St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain in housekeeping for 19 years. She also was employed with the Lorain City Schools for nine years and most recently with WalMart in Elyria for ten years.
A member of Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain, she enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and friends, was an avid reader, and loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include son, Eugene Adams of Lorain; daughters, Cindy DelBoccio and Sharli Herda, both of Lorain; six grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; and sister, Lucy Costanzo of South Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Elbert Adams (April 16, 1999); son, Steven (December 1965); grandson, John Ross DelBoccio (January 2007); parents, Michael and Rose Costanzo (nee Blank); brothers, Angelo, Anthony and Nick; sisters, Ruth Richards, Bertha Hyster and Marie Standen.
Friends may call Thursday, August 16, 2007, from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, where closing prayers will be held Friday, August 17, 2007 at 9:30 A.M. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Rev. Father Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
